Ownership

Contributors must own the rights to all images they submit. Contributors retain full copyright to their images.

License to Use Submitted Images

By submitting images, contributors grant The Vernacular Type Project a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to:

• Display the images on the website
• Use the images in project‑related materials, including project social media accounts, print and digital promotions, and educational presentations
• Store, archive, and reproduce the images for project documentation and educational purposes

Contributors will be credited whenever their images are used.

Representations & Warranties

By submitting, contributors confirm that:

• They created the images or otherwise hold the rights to them
• The images do not infringe on any third‑party rights
• Any identifiable individuals or private property were photographed with permission, where required

Metadata

Contributors may be asked to provide geographic coordinates and contextual information. This metadata may be displayed publicly as part of the project.

Removal Requests

Contributors may request removal of their images at any time by contacting the project at connect@vernaculartypeproject.com. Removal will occur within a reasonable timeframe.

Indemnification

Contributors agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Vernacular Type Project from any claims arising from their submissions.
