The Stardust opened just a year after the first manmade satellite, Sputnik, was launched by the Soviet Union. This event marked the beginning of the Space Age and inspired the aesthetic of this property, visible in the bold, angular lettering designed by Kermit Wayne from the Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO). Behind the illuminated Stardust letters is a tall pylon with many four-pointed stars, part of the 188-foot tall roadside signage designed by AD ART’s Paul Miller in 1968.

The Stardust was home to the famous “Lido de Paris” show and hosted many popular entertainers such as illusionists Siegfried and Roy.
